Women’s Appreciation on the JFS…
Folks-
As I drove aimlessly towards downtown Tucson the other day my daughter Hannah said; "Daddy you only have men on the show, why don't you interview a woman."
Her observation was prescient and one that I have heard before. In regard to this disproportionate gender inequity I will be making a concerted effort to increase my early 70's female folk/rock/jazz/psych/blues guests.
I am proud to announce that this week I will be having my first female musician on - Ellen Mcilwaine live from Alberta, Canada.

I have been in touch will the great Carol Kaye as well but I am asking for my loyal fan base for help in spurring some ideas. Feel free to visit my website and offer your choices.

I would recommend the female jazz singer Randy Crawford. Don’ t know what she’s doing these days. Did a couple solo albums and did a lot of work with the Crusaders in the late 70s/early 80s. Remember “Street Life’? That was her.

It is obvious that your daughter has an inquiring mind too. Since unique gifts do run in certain families … one family came to mind. Hubert, Ronnie, Debra and Elouise Laws. I have a great variety jazz and blues artists, but one of my Top 10s is Ronnie Laws’ Portrait of the Islet Brothers/Harvest for the World! Amazing and relaxing to and for me! Debra appears on Who Loves You Better along with brother on the soprano sax. Sigh!! Have you done a family thing? Inquiring minds such as daughter’s and mine would love to know!!! Peace and love!
I apologize on a few misspells. ☺
