The Ira Gitler Interview Part II….

My guest today has always believed in securing and investing in the creative arts. He understood as a young journalist in New York that in order to do this you needed a devotion to the music and an understanding of the people behind the music. Not just the leaders but the accompanist's as well. After all that's what jazz is about.

My guest has spent the better part of the mast half century writing, promoting and elucidating the public about the transitional periods of jazz, writing linear notes and books.
He is co-author with Leonard Feather of The Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz and author of Jazz Masters of the 40s and swing to bop.

It is a pleasure to welcome Ira Gitler to the Jake Feinberg Show.
